HUD Proposes Streamlining Certain Public Housing Requirements
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently issued a notice proposing the streamlining of administrative regulations for public housing, housing choice voucher, multifamily housing, and community planning and development programs.
The intent of the proposed changes is to reduce the administrative burden on public housing agencies (PHAs) and multifamily housing owners by aligning certain requirements across programs and reducing duplicated efforts while still maintaining important tenant protections and oversight practices. HUD incorporated input from national and local industry groups and PHAs, among others, when drafting the proposed changes. Public comments will be accepted until March 9, 2015.
The notice detailing the proposed changes can be read here.
